Fun Fact:
Did you know the inside of a tooth has a hollow space just like a roll of paper towel?
What Is Root Canal Therapy?
Root canal therapy is a common dental procedure used to save a tooth that’s infected, decayed, or damaged. Inside each tooth is a soft tissue called the pulp, which contains nerves and blood vessels. When the pulp becomes infected due to deep decay, a crack, or trauma, it can cause pain, swelling, and even lead to an abscess if left untreated.
During a root canal, we carefully remove the infected or inflamed pulp, clean and disinfect the inside of the tooth, and then seal it to prevent future infection and preserve the tooth. This is a procedure alternative to pulling out the tooth.
