I have been in private dental practice since I graduated in 1997, but I’ve known this was the profession for me since grade 9! I was greatly inspired by my own dentist, orthodontist and their teams of high energy individuals; it is the energy and dynamic I have now woven into the fabric of my own business. I have so much fun working with my team I can no longer call it a “job”!
Dentistry is about relationships and the human behind the treatment. I take time to listen to you. I get to know you and take the time to understand your needs and your wants. I get to understand what your short and long-term goals are and how I can best partner with you to bring those to fruition.
We are now in the “3rd Era of Dentistry” where like medicine the goal is to empower patients to create health by understanding the Oral Systemic Link and why it is in the forefront of Dental Medicine. It is my personal mission to raise public awareness through transparent communication, education, and accessible dentistry offered to ideal standards. Everyone has the right to early diagnosis and treatment of oral cancers and endemic inflammation that leads to serious overall health issues.
I want to provide my patients with a portal to healthy lifestyles and create the smile of each patients dream. Ultimately, when your smile reflects happy self-confidence and lights up a room; that is my greatest reward!
Education and continuing education
I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. I moved to Saskatchewan to attain my dental degree and graduated in 1997 from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree with Dean’s Honours. In my last half year of dental college, I was selected to perform an oral surgery externship at the University of Texas Health Science Centre in San Antonio to advance my experience in surgical procedures, implant dentistry and wisdom tooth removal.
Continuing education is a cornerstone of my practice for both myself and my team. Personally, I love to learn and grow on a daily basis. An important part of being a good dentist is sharing my knowledge with patients, staff and collegues alike. The most beautiful part of dentistry is that it is always evolving and becoming more therapeutic in nature. I am thrilled to offer you the latest in treatment, service and care in a sophisticated progressive, comfortable environment.
My professional development is focused on expanding the services I currently perform such as implants, comfortable wisdom tooth removal, root canals, braces, and full mouth smile rejuvenation. I proudly offer my patients the latest digital technology such as ITERO®, INVISALIGN® and CEREC®. Widening the scope of services available at my office minimizes the need to refer my patients to specialists, saving time and making oral care much more accessible.
In the office
I strive to provide dentistry that is transparent and comfortable for all patients. I paint a clear and accurate picture of each treatment to help patients understand their existing conditions and the procedures available to help them achieve brilliant smiles. The mystery behind treatments is removed at my office, which allows patients to truly get interested and even excited about their dental health. My handpicked team and I work to customize each treatment plan to optimize our patients' oral healthcare.
Outside the office
I have proudly made my home in Calgary since 1998 where I live with my wife and young son. Family is very important to me; my wife and I greatly enjoy being parents and encouraging our son to live life to the fullest. I also love being in the outdoors and enjoy biking, hiking, and snowboarding. I love to play hockey, and I am a recreational pilot.
My family is involved in many community programs and sports. I am a strong supporter of community involvement especially for children. I believe that involved parents help model the appropriate behaviors that promote positive development for children. While promoting independence and boosting self-esteem it helps kids integrate into a community as it fosters strong core values, like a friendship, collaboration and a generous spirit.
